About Us
Our team at the Centre for Astrophysics is dedicated to world-leading research into astronomy, space science, and astrobiology. Whilst most of our staff are based at UniSQ’s Toowoomba and Springfield campuses, we have members spread across Australia, and around the globe. As UniSQ is a university that specialises in online learning, our group includes a large cohort of international postgraduate students based overseas.
The Centre for Astrophysics includes Australia’s largest research concentration of exoplanetary scientists, playing a pivotal role in the global effort to search for, and characterise, alien worlds. Other members of our team are leading global efforts to understand the magnetic activity and space weather of other Sunlike stars. Our final area of research leadership is in dynamical astronomy, where our staff and students are studying the history and evolution of the Solar system, and the various factors that can render potentially habitable planets more (or less) suitable for life
